UV Fade
The UV fade test is used to measure the colorfastness of a material or ink/coating to light. Samples are received, cut into 1” squares and then securely mounted to ensure that that did not move through the duration of the test. One sample of each color is tested and one sample is set aside to act as the control. The samples are exposed to continuous light from a Xenon source and removed after 100, 500 and 1000 hours. When all of the testing is completed, delta E’s were measured between the control and each of the samples.
This test method is based on AATCC Test Method 16-2004: Colorfastness to Light (Option 3), but is modified to include a glass pane to emulate UV exposure through a glass window.
